Magnolia Children’s Group (MCG) is a Baton Rouge–based nonprofit organization that transforms historic, state-owned properties into trauma-informed residential homes for children in foster care. Our mission is to restore historic spaces and rebuild the lives of vulnerable youth through wraparound care and strategic partnerships.
Our pilot campus will serve middle school–aged girls in Louisiana’s foster care system, with plans to expand to additional populations and regions based on state data and need.

Trauma-informed care is an approach that recognizes the presence and impact of trauma in a child’s life and provides a safe, supportive environment to promote healing and growth. We utilize evidence-based models such as Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) and SAMHSA’s six core principles.
MCG will partner with licensed foster care providers and clinical service agencies. We will serve as a residential care campus operator that coordinates services and ensures trauma-informed standards are met through clinical and educational partnerships.

Our goal is to replicate the Magnolia model across Louisiana in partnership with DCFS and LDH, eventually expanding to a national model through legislative efforts such as the Homes for Hope Act.
Yes. While our pilot focuses on middle school girls, future campuses will be developed based on regional DCFS data and demonstrated needs—including homes for boys, sibling groups, and older youth transitioning out of foster care.
